What led you to join Leadership Health Care?
For a couple of years before that initial kickoff meeting, Kimberly Goessele, David Killen and I met repeatedly with the Nashville Health Care Council to help them form a group specifically for up and comers in the industry. We needed a group to help foster our growth as health care executives.
What has been the most rewarding part of being a member of Leadership Health Care?
I have made some incredible connections through LHC. For example, I met David Frederiksen who is CEO of PatientFocus. We have been great friends since we met and we are currently working on our second startup company together.
I have also built relationships with many others through LHC who have been helpful to me in all kinds of ways over my career.
What is your favorite thing about Nashville?
I love that Nashville is a town that is so easy to connect with people. Everyone is always willing to help you if they can. At a minimum they will sit down over a cup of coffee and have a discussion with you. This community is so giving in so many ways. That’s what makes it great.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Know your strengths and your weaknesses and surround yourself with people smarter than you that have strengths that you don’t have.
What famous business person do you most admire and why?
I’m intrigued with Jeff Bezos. Having a technology background, I like the way he has tackled problems with technology and innovation. He is not afraid to try innovative things and they usually succeed.
As you think about the future of the health care industry, what is most motivating to you?
I love working in health care because opportunities are endless. There are so many opportunities to make our health care system just a little bit better and in doing so have a positive impact on a lot of people. The one constant about our health care system is change and that means there will always be another opportunity around the corner.
