The Nashville Health Care Council is pleased to announce the addition of a new staff member and two staff promotions.
June Manning will serve as director for Council Fellows, an initiative designed to engage select senior industry executives to explore new business strategies and meet the challenges facing the U.S. health care system in the years ahead. In this capacity, she will collaborate with the Fellows co-directors and advisory committee to establish strategic goals, curriculum design and execution, recruitment and marketing and communications. Manning will also oversee the Fellows Alumni program. She previously served as conference services manager for Butler | Snow where she executed events and meetings with the goal of client acquisition and retention. Prior, as editor-in-chief for VerusMed, Manning oversaw the development and delivery of VerusMed’s medical publications, expanded the number of product offerings into new therapeutic areas and launched the organization’s first physician advisory board.
Honey Hopkins has been promoted to office manager from administrative assistant. In this position, Hopkins manages administrative activities and provides key support to Council initiatives. Prior to joining the Council, Hopkins served as director of the Music City Music Council and as executive assistant, economic development, at the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce. She received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
Valerie Somerville was recently promoted to communications manager, after previously serving as communications coordinator. In this role, she assists in the development of communications materials related to maintaining the Council’s position as the key information resource on Nashville’s health care industry. Prior to joining the Council in 2013, Somerville served as public information officer for the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services where she supported the department’s media relations and social media efforts. Somerville earned a master’s degree in advertising and public relations and bachelor’s degree in hospitality management from the University of Alabama.
