The Nashville Health Care Council announced today the 2022 class of the Nashville Health Care Council Fellows. Program staff will welcome the class of 33 senior executives from health care companies of all sizes and sectors, who will convene to discuss and address the challenges facing the nation’s health care industry. The 2022 class is the ninth to be named for the annual initiative, the first in two years after the program’s hiatus during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Class members represent several health care industry sectors, including hospital system management, information technology, managed care, and capital investment, among others. Nearly half of this year’s class comprises women, and roughly one-third represents a diverse population. Seven fellows are also based outside of Tennessee, a reflection of the program’s national footprint and influence.
The members of the 2022 Fellows class are:
“We are thrilled to reinstate this top initiative after pausing last year’s class due to the COVID-19 pandemic and to continue to create the space for the most inspiring conversations in health care,” said Hayley Hovious, Council president. “The health care ecosystem we have built over the past 60 years in Nashville makes the Fellows program uniquely suited to provide participants exposure to the leaders who created the biggest health care organizations in the world, as well as those disrupting the industry and introducing new models amidst a rapidly changing landscape.”
This year’s Fellows program reflects changes in leadership. Michael Burcham, Chief of Strategy & Talent Development at Shore Capital and Professor at Vanderbilt University Owen Graduate School of Management, is the Council Fellows Chair, and will support and guide dialogue in the classroom. Burcham brings deep experience in health care innovation, entrepreneurship and executive coaching. Lydie Marc also joined the Council in mid-2021 as Senior Director of Council Fellows and Content Strategy.
Also new this year, the Council has established an Advisory Board to curate cutting-edge curriculum, extend the reach of recruitment and bolster facilitation of this unique program. The Board currently includes industry leaders Nancy-Ann DeParle, David Dill, Senator William Frist, M.D., James E.K. Hildreth, Ph. D, M.D., Tony Iton, M.D., J.D., MPH, Todd Park, and Reed Tuckson, M.D., FACP. Sen. Frist will also serve as Fellow Chair Emeritus in addition to his role on the Advisory Board.
“Council Fellows creates a one-of-a-kind opportunity for health care’s brightest minds to come together and have the right conversations at what continues to be a pivotal moment in our industry,” said Frist. “We need these leaders’ collaboration and smart thinking more than ever to move simplify the complex, codify chaos and create meaningful change. I’m thrilled to welcome this new group of Fellows and see how they move both their careers and the industry forward as a result of the program.”
The Council Fellows program is presented in partnership with BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, Change Healthcare, Community Health Systems, HCA Healthcare, LifePoint Health, Tivity Health and Vanderbilt University.
