W.W. Norton Releases Third Edition of Healthcare Design Book By ESa Authors
NASHVILLE – The third edition of Hospital and Healthcare Facility Design, authored by architectural executives Richard L. Miller, FAIA, Earl S. Swensson, FAIA, and Todd Robinson, AIA, of Earl Swensson Associates (ESa) was rolled out late last month by noted publisher W.W. Norton & Company.
The book, which has become a standard for architects, planners, students and hospital administrators, upon its release was called a “healthcare design Bible” by the editor of Healthcare Design magazine. Says editor Todd Hutlock, “For those just starting out in the healthcare industry, it provides a useful cross-section of everything on offer, exploring trends both established and emerging, with great visuals to back up the rich information.”
This new edition of the book expands coverage of the timely and important topics covered in the two previous editions, such as women’s and children’s healthcare and care for the elderly. It also explores the latest advances on everything from new medical campuses, freestanding facilities and to continuous-care senior living communities. New case studies and updated text provide innovative ideas and practical guidelines for planning and designing facilities to accommodate the evolving world of healthcare.
The first edition of this comprehensive book on healthcare architecture was published in 1995, and the second edition was released in 2002.
